about

I think I wrote this song right after “Come down..”. I wanted to write a song about my brothers from my younger selves perspective. I’m the youngest of 5 boys and throughout my life I’ve relied on my brothers for advice, a feeling of protection or a role model. As I’m sure most youngest siblings in a big family face, I based a lot of my identity off my brothers.

When I got older I realised this and wanted to become my own person rather than what I thought was cool to my brothers. The first verse is me as a child wanting my brothers attention and the second verse is me as an adult beginning to feel confident within myself.

lyrics

Brother please
Will you stay with me?
Stay and see it isn’t what you know
Stay inside
Where I find reside
You could help me by
Letting me look up

Lonely have I, been my whole life
Tell me how it gets better in time
Its always like you said, Im better out of my head
I’m out of my head

No I,
Getting into daytime
Im finding my own strength
Only if I speak the way you told it
Im barely even focused
I know I never say that
But your the one I see

And what’s all this noise?
Im hearing my own voice
Tell him how it is now brother
And listen when I say
Im getting out of my head
And all this seems to help me out of my own
