about

I wrote this song in February of 2020. It’s weird to listen to it now and realise how much it sounds like a quarantine song even though I wrote it before we really knew about Covid-19.

The song is about depression and feeling stuck in a dark place. At the time of writing the song I was reflecting on how I’d been feeling the years prior and remembering what I was like. Oftentimes not socialising but rather staying in my room. I wanted to capture that in the second verse with “I’m not strong enough to want to get out, all I see is my house”. The first verse is based on a conversation I had when I was 20 with my ex girlfriend.

I took a year off from Uni and was living back with my parents and feeling really stuck. We used to sit outside her house on a field fence and I remember her talking about how it would all work itself out after me stressing out about what I was doing with my life. It’s weird to think back to that time when it felt like nothing was going right and I didn’t have an idea of who I wanted to be. I suppose for me this whole album is about looking back and seeing how far I’ve came and realising that regardless of how overwhelming things feel they usually tend to fade eventually.

lyrics

I don’t like
Much about this town
Its not, for me
You sit on this fence line
Tell me its just for a while
Waiting for a punchline to write
Im just bored

I don’t like
Much about myself
Im not,
Strong enough to want to get out
All I see is my house
Waiting for her to arrive
Im bored
